Web site hosting FAQ > page 8
Who should I avoid?
You've done some searching, compared various hosting companies, and you think
you've found somebody to host your site, right? Alright, now dig into their site a little
bit.
Ask yourself these questions:
Are they a 'reseller' of hosting
services? If this is the case, you had better do some
more homework and find out who is maintaining the server hardware for your reseller.
Personal
experience has taught me that although the reseller might seem to be good to deal with, if
they don't have direct control of the hardware that your site is located on, you could be in
for some heartache and frustration down the road.
How does their own site look? Does it look professional? If it looks a little
rough around the edges, filled with spelling errors, or if it's simply missing some of the
information that you're looking for, ask yourself if you would really feel comfortable trusting
this company with the well-being of your Web site.
Remember, if your site
is a business Web site, you want your suppliers (Web host included) to be at least as serious about
your business as you are yourself.
