January 27, 2001 - Slowly, oh so slowly.
The jokes are being placed back online. Having read through every one of
these jokes, it is now my informed opinion that nobody under 18 should
even bother entering that section. Funny how most of the humor that
reaches my email is generally unsuitable for anybody that is a little "sensitive".
Over the next while I will be posting a directory of Web site designers.
At least this way, all of the people that are sent here from the major search engines
like google, yahoo
and dmoz.org (the open directory) won't have to go away
unhappy. I keep turning up in the "Web design" category on those S.E.'s.
Likewise with the local ones: searchbc.com and
vancouver-bc.com. Go figure. By far though,
most of the time I'm turning up in searches through msn.com.
Note to new visitors: I don't do Web design. Look for that directory to start soon though.
Older entries from this page have now been moved to the "archive". What an
incredibly original title.
January 13, 2001 - We've moved again.
A few days into the New Year this Web site disappeared. Actually,
the company that I've been paying to host this site disappeared.
With it went all of my email accounts (ack ! I can't live without
access to my email...) and the ninety* or so pages of this Web site.
Warning! If you own a Web site, do yourself a favor and
back up the entire site right now. Just do yourself a favor and back it up right now.
So... after ten days of absolute silence from the hosting company,
I figured that my site was gone for good and decided that I should find another one.
I'm not going to publish the name of the company that vanished on me, but if anybody wants
to know who to avoid, send me an email I'll gladly
share my opinions in a private forum.
Jokes. We've got jokes. Shortly before this site disappeared I began
doing my bit to make the world a funnier place. I had managed to post around 80 pages of
jokes just before the 'incident'. In time I'll have all of those pages back online,
with plans to add billions more (eventually).
Keep checking back, and send this link to everybody you know. I
would do it for you...
January 01, 2001 - There goes another year...
Is it me, or is time speeding up? Just wondering.
November 16, 2000 ... Almost moved in!
This has been a long process, with my new low-tech dialup
connection... but I'm slowly rebuilding the site.
News! A loosely formed 'Alliance' of Web
sites is beginning to take shape. The as-yet unnamed alliance
will consist of a group of sites whose owners have pledged to
assist one another with various aspects of putting together a site.
Here for the first time, I am pleased to give you the first screenshot
of programalyze.com
This shot is being shown here as an enticement to the site owner to
"get with it" and put his site up live... the world is waiting.
The owner of the site has told me that the site's main purpose will
consist of "Analyzing internet and web-based applications" and that
it will be offering up tutorials, tips and advice, and free - yes I said "free"
programs.
Visit this site when it's finally live, I promise you that
it will be interesting.
The other members of the alliance consist of the sites: perlwars.com
and toastomatic.com Screenshots will follow as soon as there's something
to look at...
October 4, 2000 ... Wouldn't you know it?
Since putting this page up, explaining that I'm just not doing
the freelancing thing anymore... I start to get inquiries on a
regular basis. Something's wrong with the world. Seriously,
I'm explaining that I'm out of here, because I really don't have
an eye for design, and suddenly people start asking for me. Oh well.
By all means, keep contacting me, it's really flattering,
and we all know how fragile the male ego is...
Sometime in the next two weeks I need to decide on a new hosting
company for this site... somewhere that allows people to actually USE
the cgi-bin, as opposed to the outfit that's currently hosting this
site, which wants to examine and approve everything before it can
be used. Don't you think I test it on my own system first? I haven't
wiped out my own files, because I really can write a few 'safe' CGI
scripts. Honest. Just to prove a point, once I'm up on the new
host server, I'll be giving away the usual FREE cgi scripts... hit counters,
guest books, that type of thing. Why? I'm not really sure, but
since I don't have any cool images for people to hijack, I might as well
offer up something...
(Summer, 2000) ... It's been fun, but...
2Bone Web Design has packed it in. Gone, disappeared in a puff
of smoke. Freelancing wasn't cutting it, mostly because like most
men, I'm pretty much color blind. I'll wear a striped tie with
a Plaid suit any day.
The good news is that this site will now have less of a commercial
tone to it, but it's likely to make very little sense. So what?
It's mine.
Ok, so now I'm working downtown (that would
be in Vancouver, for anybody that's new around here) and
taking transit. These are both new experiences for me and I'm
learning to enjoy it.
After too many years of 'working' for a living,
I now have a job that I absolutely look forward to every morning.
It's my dream job... no kidding, I'm working with some amazingly
talented people who aren't afraid to share their knowledge.
